The Reverend Josh Tester – Pastor

Pastor Josh is a North Carolina native who grew up in Lexington. He studied Youth Ministry and Christian Education at Pfeiffer University, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in 2007. He began his career in Church Vocations 20 years ago as a student at Pfeiffer University. He has worked in many congregations as a youth/children’s minister as well as a Christian Educator. His longest tenure as director of Christian Education was at Weaverville UMC where he began a collaborative youth program, wrote VBS curriculum, and led vibrant discipleship ministries for all ages. Josh served as a student Pastor at Mt Tirzah UMC while in seminary and graduated from Duke Divinity School in 2020 with an MDiv. He was appointed to the Hoke Chare in 2021 and in July 2023, was appointed to serve in Currituck and Elizabeth City, NC.
He and his wife, Elizabeth (EB), are parents to Madison(10) and Axl (7) and their family dog Brady(4). “Our family is thrilled to be a part of this community and be in ministry with the great people of Pilmoor Memorial UMC.
